An ‘electrifying’ visit… from an eRIB!

At the MVS we see a lot of different things whilst out and about in the harbour, but we don’t often see boats propelled by electric outboards. Until this week anyway…

Poole played host to ‘Electra’ the eRIB operated by Round Britain eRIB, itself the brainchild of Harry Besley, a young man with a passion for the marine environment and a desire to shift leisure boats away from fossil fuels to clean propulsion.

Harry’s journey has taken him to 40 ports and harbours around the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, all on his electric powerboat. On the 13th August Harry and his team stopped in Poole to recharge before moving on to complete the voyage in Lyme Regis, where it all started.

Harry was kind enough to allow MVS Poole member Scott onboard ‘Electra’ to have a look around – as boaters do!
