We enjoyed a fantastic evening on Monday 15th September with a great talk by Bill Reeves, CEO of Portland Port and a Younger Brethren of Trinity House.
We were delighted to see such a good turnout, with a varied audience from the RNLI, National Coastwatch Institution, Dorset Marine Training, yacht owners, kayakers, rowers, paddleboarders and windsurfers, not forgetting our own members from MVS Poole, MVS Christchurch & Bournemouth and Southampton Maritime Volunteer Service.
Bill’s talk took us through the founding of Trinity House in 1514 right up to the present day and included the organisation’s task of maintaining and inspecting over 11,000 aids to navigation, charity work and even the organisation’s role in Admiralty Court cases.
Our thanks once again to Bill and Poole Yacht Club for making us so welcome, and to our own member David for the photos!
