Warm weather means more traffic!

As summer finally starts to get underway and the schools break up, Poole Harbour is busier than ever. Our summer patrols are in full swing helping other harbour users enjoy their time on the water.

On Sunday, 28th July, Avocet was tasked with her first patrol of the day, crewed by volunteers Alan, Ian, Roger, Chris and our newest member, Mandi.

Whilst proceeding down towards the Wareham Channel, the crew noticed another vessel anchored in the channel itself. The vessel’s engine had overheated and the owner had no choice but to anchor where he was.

Under direction of Harbour Control, Avocet sent across a tow line and towed the vessel to a safer location where she re-anchored to carry out repairs.

Well done to our volunteers!
