Harbour patrols aren’t our only means of contributing to Poole’s waterborne community!
Today (14 September) saw the sun make a rare appearance for the 85 competitors of the annual Poole Harbour Race, organised by Poole Harbour Canoe Club. The race is akin to a seagoing marathon set over courses of 4, 8 and 15 miles.
Our volunteers Neil and Dave were in attendance on Trevora as one of several safety boats tasked with keeping an eye on the welfare of the participants.
Dave and Neil were on hand to help with a range of incidents, from helping lost and missing canoeists to standing by with a few exhausted competitors feeling the strain.
Massive well done to all the competitors, and special thanks to our MVS volunteers! All involved deserve a drink (or a few…).
