What we do...
Poole Harbour is one of the most popular boating destinations in the country, owing to its beautiful surroundings and proximity to Christchurch, the Solent and Jurassic Coast.
Therefore traffic levels are high in the summer season.
We work with Poole Harbour Master to help keep traffic in the harbour moving safely throughout this period by carrying out weekend and bank holiday patrols as well as monitoring traffic around the lifting bridges.
Bournemouth Air Show
The Bournemouth Air Festival is one of the highlights of the summer calendar in Poole and Bournemouth.
Involving aircraft from around the country it is one of the largest airshows in the country, spanning several days each year.
Hundreds of spectators attend the show in their own private boats. We maintain an exclusion zone around the shore and visiting Royal Navy ships to keep everybody where they should be.
Brownsea Island Swim
Another big event within the harbour community is the annual swim around Brownsea Island, the largest of Poole Harbour’s islands.
This event sees swimmers take on the challenge of making it around the whole island.
We provide a presence near the swimmers to ward of other vessels who might not know of the event and as a safety boat in case of the swimmers get into difficulty whilst in the water.
But that's not all...
On top of all that, we provide regular MVS designed training on a variety of topics and a number of Royal Yachting Association courses both on and off the water with our status as an RYA-accredited training centre.
The breadth of our membership experience serves to provides advice and guidance on all aspects of the maritime environment on a day to day basis.
For more information on our training, do take a look at the Training Section.
