Autumn training begins at MVS Poole

With summer and MVS Poole’s harbour patrol season drawing to a close, classroom training has begun for the winter.

Recent weeks have seen Foundation level classes take place for new members. The Foundation level is designed to provide members with the basic skills and knowledge they will need to get out and safely enjoy our vessels and harbour.

New members Judy, Chris, Alex, John and Rick have been working their way through the modules over the last couple of months, recently completing the navigation module.

This introduction to navigation has seen them get to grips with the principles of nautical charts, why tides occur, the principal islands and channels of Poole Harbour and what navigational buoys they can expect to encounter whilst out and about.

Well done to the group – there’s a lot to take in and they survived with their patience intact!
