A few of us went to Portsmouth recently and had a dinner on board H.M.S. Victory.

Unfortunately it wasn't a silver service meal in the Great Cabin, a cafeteria type on the main Gun Deck sitting at a traditional mess table between the guns!
The evening started with drinks in the PO Mess, formerly the Ward Room on the deck below Admiral Nelson's great cabin and then we had a very comprehensive tour of the ship with an excellent guide. Up and down many steep gangways and they still haven't improved the headroom on the lower decks (there must be something in the Health and Safety regulations about that!).

As usual the guide was very informative and there always seem to be new artefacts to look at. When you think 850 men lived on that ship - it must have been crowded! After dinner we retired to the bar again where one of our members won TWO raffle prizes!
Many thanks to Chris Davenport of Portsmouth for once again organising a super evening.
Additional Note From Editor
Look at the series of pictures below taken by one of our members, Neil Davison, He feels that there is an uninvited guest materialising from one of the chairs, about half of us can see it and the other half can't. Let us know what you think.
Look at the chair!
You may be able to see something now!
The extra guest has now arrived!
