Avocet is an ex customs launch, initially loaned but now donated to MVS Poole by HM Customs & Revenue. She is a twin screw, semi-displacement Cheverton Workboat powered by a pair of Perkins 62hp diesel engines. Built by Fairey Marine of Cowes, to Customs & Excise specification. She has a forward cabin and heads and her shallow draught and roomy cockpit make her the ideal MVS vessel for Poole Harbour patrols which we carry out between Easter and late September on behalf of the Poole Harbour Master. We are in the process of coding her to MCA standards so that she will be licensed to do a lot more at a greater distance than she was previously allowed to.
