2012 London Boat Show visit

Another early start!   We left Poole just after 7.30am with Nigel driving (not forgetting Richard had already driven from his home in Wiltshire) for an uneventful drive to Excel Exhibition Centre in the London Docklands.   Well until the last few hundred yards which due to roadworks seemed to take us all around the centre except in to the Car Park.

However we arrived safely and spent several happy hours ogling boats we couldn’t possibly afford, looking at various bits of nice equipment and talking to the rep. from Fun-Yak, the main purpose of the visit, or rather Nigel and David Lockwood (the M.V.S. Fleet Manager) did.   It was good to see several Poole exhibitors, Sunseeker which seemed to overwhelm the Boat Hall, R.N.L.I., Greenham Regis, Poole Quay Boat Haven and Rockley Watersports.   There were probably others as well and for those bored with boats there was a comfortable R.Y.A. lounge as well as an activity pool to watch and also an afloat exhibition of very expensive boats, a Camper Van show and a Bicycle show all in the same building.

Being duly tired and not wanting to be too late home we left just after 4.00pm and after a short delay on the Winchester section of the M 3 arrived in Poole at 8.30.

Many thanks to Nigel for driving us, Peter, Alan Richard and Richard
